SYSTEM OPERATION
The Proximity Detection System (PDS4.0) is designed to prevent accidents between machines and personnel especially in underground environments. It alarms machine operators in case of potentially dangerous situations. It provides an early warning indication that alerts the machine operator of the presence and number of personnel and vehicles in the machine's vicinity. If the safe distance between machines or between machines and workers becomes to small, the systems alerts all participants and ultimatelly initiates a full stop of the machine.
The PDS4.0 facilitates bi-directional notification and alert messaging against potential collisions between the following:
- Vehicle to Person: Warns operator and interacts with vehicle in case of person in close proximity.
- Vehicle to Vehicle: Warns operators and interacts with vehicle in case of vehicles in close proximity.
PDT-0101 - PROXIMITY DETECTION TAG
The proximity detection tag PDT-0101 is a self powered personnel tag to be worn by every worker. It is the counter part for the PDS4.0 Master Unit mounted on every moving machine. The PDT-0101 is not only a tag but also a way to communicate with PDS4.0 master units. The PDT-0101 is the only separate tag that is needed. The PDS4.0 master units act as tags themselves - no need for an additional tag on a machine or vehicle.
OMI - OPERATOR MACHINE INTERFACE
The Operator Machine Interface (OMI) is a 7" touch screen interface unit for the machine or vehicle operator. The OMI is mounted inside the operator cabin or near a typical workplace on any machine. It is an IP67 device that is connected to the PDS4.0 main unit, which is the central processing unit between the driver and the multiple detection sensors mounted around the machine or vehicle.
PDS4.0 easily integrates into existing systems and offers a user-friendly interface that can be operated effortlessly by any miner. Thanks to its integration with our SCADA software, SmartFlow, PDS4.0 offers comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities, while also being accessible from anywhere via TCP/IP, RJ45, Fibre, WiFi, and LTE—whether through control units, PC, or remotely via smartphones and tablets.
It reports all critical information on scenarios, improving operational safety and awareness.

The scalable system is suitable for all customer applications - especially in underground environments. Our specially developed antennas can cover the entire WiFi spectrum and thus quickly determine the exact position of the remote station.
The number and orientation of the antennas allow for different combinations of conditions to ensure the safe operation at any scale of vehicle. The system can be adjusted to the specific use case, such as the direction and volume of the vehicle or machine.
