D-4000-10 High Voltage Ground Monitor
The D-4000-1 Ground Check System is an impedance type monitor. The monitor will function either an undervoltage device or a non-undervoltage device.
It has a mode selector switch to change between UVR mode or Non UVR mode. The mode selector switch is located on the pcb near the back of the monitor. The selected mode will be displayed by the UVR mod or Non UVR mode lamp located on the front of the monitor.
Connected in the non-UV mode, the monitor incorporates a 0.25 second time delay to allow the GCS to analysed the pilot ground condition. When energized, this prevents tripping due to a dip or a loss of control power. To utilize the advantages for the monitor in the Non-UV mode, the associated circuit breaker must employ a potential trip device.
The GCS utilizes an AC signal up to 1/5 amperes at 16 volts and features a polarity reversal switch to enable the user to keep the source current with respect to the induced current in phase to reduce nuisance tripping.
Trip Indication
When the GCS is tripped the indicator (BKR) will detect the trip and indicate it by showing “tripped”. It also has a “lockout” function which prevents operation until “reset” (BKR AUX). If “lockout” function is not desired, add jumper “J1”.
The D-4000-10 has a 12 position terminal connector for field wiring located long the back of the relay. The terminal connector is pluggable. The pluggable connector allows for quicker monitor change out and reduces the chances of miswiring with the monitor during replacement.
The system is designed to trip the associated breaeker with the pilot/ground circuit resistance increases 4 ohms form calibrated setting upon installation. It will function properly with up to 50ohms pilot/ground loop resistance. A test button is proved to stimulate a 4-ohm increase and check monitor operation and calibration.
